Quick! What are the first three adjectives you use to describe a model? A majority of you probably answered with words like skinny, tall, blonde, and Caucasian, right? Well prepare to be shocked. Well, designer Rick Owens has decided to step out from the bunch. You won’t believe who Owens used to model his spring collection!
This American designer displayed his spring line not on size zero fashion models, but on step teams from around the nation! The Atlantic Wire reported that forty dancers from the Washington Divas, Soul Steppers, The Momentums, and The Zetas stomped their way down the runway. According to NY Mag, two separate groups entered first, dressed in all black while a second group came out shortly following in tan. Apparently, the Twitter world blew up after the appearance of the step team (I mean wouldn’t you be somewhat shocked?).
So what does this have to say about the future of modeling? Obviously it’s too soon to tell, but you never know: do you think the fashion world is ready for some change, Lovelies?
