The results of the whirlwind Paris Couture shows are sending the Internet into a tizzy and causing some serious lust for designer dresses (hello, Dior). But it’s lingerie/ready-to-wear brand Etam’s runway show that I’m really loving. No angel wings, diamond bras, or collegiate themes – just great staging at the Grand Palais, models strutting in Louboutins, chic themes, and more importantly, immensely wearable looks.
The show opened with romantic, Marie Antoinette-inspired looks: luxurious pink-tinged locks, flowers in the hair, pastel ribbons and pearls around the neck, and even lambs!
Basic black was accessorized with lace, polka dots, silver chains, and spiky leopard-print Louboutin booties.
On the other end of the spectrum, a mixture of bright colors reign – even on the lips. Mix blue and yellow, pink and orange, and go no darker than red and turquoise for hanging out in your boudoir…or, you know, chilling at home.
Are you there, Sonia Rykiel? Alright, the lady herself didn’t have a hand in the brand’s S/S collection, but the hair and colors definitely have her influence.
The final part of the show was devoted to model Natalia Vodianova’s collaboration with the brand.
If you’re looking to procrastinate for 20 minutes, you can check out parts of the show below:
Performers included Beth Ditto, French rapper Joey Starr, The Kills, Karen Elson, Boy George, Janelle Monae, Andrew Wyatt, and Mark Ronson.
I do find the VS shows entertaining, but certainly not as fun as they used to be.
What do you think of Etam’s collection and runway presentation? Do you prefer the Victoria’s Secret shows?

Cooler? I’m not sure about that. I know I’d rather watch VS models than any of these no-boobs-no-ass-stick-thin girls.

ew that looks awfulllll! and i think super skinny modles like that look GROSSSSSSS. un-human if u ask me. “omg i ate a peanut gota go puke it up”

I agree. If your going to do lingerie the models should look soft and feminine not skeletal. VS girls look good because they have some curves and look healthy. Maybe the human twig thing works for couture gowns and stuff but lingerie and swimwear should be left to the girls with with curves

lol I miss boobs. but, this was cute.

I still prefer VS. Stick thin boob-less ass-less models looks sick to me. Even though the clothes are pretty and wearable, I am not attracted to them because I’m totally the opposite of a stick thin model and I doubt they’ll look good on me.

I prefer these models!

omg I love this!

VS fashion show lite, i guess, the baby goat was a nice touch but this doesnt do it. && whats an angel with no wings???? VS show has been the same every year just the runway got bigger.

Pretty much every other fashion show is more interesting then a VS show. I don’t care if the VS girls have more boobs and hips, I am there to see the fashion and a well put together show.

My body type is naturally closer to this… so it is nice to see smaller chested chicas, but they are models. I am shorter. I dunno…
I like the whimsy of VS and all of their models scream “WOMAN.” I wish I could look like them. dayum.

I am not wowed by their lingerie. I went to their website and I am even less impressed.

Yea you may be the only one who prefers this to VS. They are scary thin models with no junk in the trunk.

They’re so skinny.. it makes me want to hit up McDonald’s. Maybe theres something wrong with my eyes, but the last two pictures kinda makes them look like they got male organs in the lower region.

I thought the clothes were gorgeous.

I like VS shows much better. They are more lively and fun. Those shows are more about showcasing each look individually. This show you don’t really get a long look at any of the outfits.
With the Victoria Secret shows theres that shock moment of “ooooh” and then time to admire it after. With Etam there is just too much going on at once. So many models on the stage, and everything is back and forth.
HOWEVER, I think there is great potential there. The clothes are gorgeous, and I think if they just slowed things down a little, and maybe used better lighting…it would be amazing!

if there is no glitter runway, it is not cooler than victoria’s secret.

I don’t know why everyone’s so concerned about the models. I was looking at the clothes. o_0
@andisburiedlife@xanga - All women are soft and have their own unique curves… They don’t have to be a certain size to qualify as a woman. You shouldn’t call thinner chicks “skeletal” if you are at all offended at being called, “chubby” for instance. Just sayin’. There are a lot of naturally thin-framed girls out there. They even have feelings, just like you. *gasp*

@blackspiders@xanga - You cant say the gap between their rib cage and protruding hip bones counts as having curves. I’m not saying they arent women I’m saying they arent ideal for lingerie which is absolutely true 100% I work in this industry and studies have shown that women selling lingerie or swimwear do better if they are built more like the VS girls. Its not offensive to call it like I see it. They are skinny, very skinny. They know it. They are in an image based industry. If you dont like it then your in the wrong industry. If you looked at my pictures at all you would see I’m far from “chubby”. Actually quite the opposite. I know there are girls with naturally thin frames because I am one of them. I also realize that because I am so small I am not the ideal model for lingerie. Thats fine with me. I stick with what I can do. Your get all bent out of shape over nothing

I don’t like the pieces…
